Girard-Perregaux’s First Baguette-Set Laureato
The mainstay of the Girard-Perregaux lineup today is undoubtedly the Laureato, their integrated-bracelet luxury sports watch that debuted in 1975. Although there’s no question that it was GP’s answer to Audemars Piguet’s successful 1972 Royal Oak, the Laureato came out before Patek Philippe’s Nautilus and is historically significant in its own right. Girard-Perregaux started a new chapter in Laureato history in 2025 by releasing the first-ever version with a baguette diamond bezel. Let’s take a look at the GP Laureato 38mm Baguette.
Price
I immediately have to mention the $52,200 price tag. That’s 3.5x the price of a normal steel GP Laureato 38mm. That’s also $32,100 more than the price of a Laureato 38mm with a regular diamond bezel! But, undoubtedly, the Laureato 38mm Baguette looks way more boss, and GP is betting that there are people out there willing to pay the premium for it. I doubt there are enough of them to prevent deep discounting, but I’m sure these watches will find happy owners. Now let’s talk about the part of this watch that’s the reason for such a high price.
The First Baguette Bezel on a GP Laureato
This Girard-Perregaux Laureato 38mm features 32 meticulously-cut baguette diamonds (~3 carats) set into the octagonal bezel using an invisible setting technique, with each irregularly-shaped stone precisely cut and aligned to fill the entire bezel.
“Baguette-cut diamonds require exceptional precision, a challenge met by the custom-designed bezel. Each stone is carefully placed in a channel that accommodates slight variations in size and shape, ensuring perfect alignment. The bezel’s height is meticulously calibrated to enhance the diamonds’ brilliance.”

Dial
In photos, the dial may look like other rhodium-plated brass hobnail dials from the GP Laureato lineup, but the dial on the Laureato 38mm Baguette is actually solid 18k white gold. The “Laureato Automatic” plate at the bottom of the dial was tastefully removed, and the Girard-Perregaux nameplate shrank slightly. White gold-plated baton hands and hour markers are filled with white lume.
Movement
Caliber GP03300-2564, ticking away at 8 beats per second inside the baguette-set Laureato 38mm, is an updated gold-rotor version of the workhorse GP03300 movement that has been in use since 2006. It’s a solid movement, and the finishing is very good.

Price aside, the GP Laureato 38mm Baguette is definitely one of the most striking 2025 Girard-Perregaux releases. Although the concept of artificial scarcity is discussed a lot in the diamond world, it takes a lot of time and skill to cut and set diamonds this meticulously–and there’s no faking that.
